What is lacking and what we need is a strict and consistent
enforcement of the law through our justice system. This is what will
effectively deter crimes and not any killing or death penalty.
What is needed is a strict and
consistent enforcement of the law, so that people will know that when they
commit a crime, there will be no escape from the long arm of the law. Our newly
elected leaders likewise have to address the root causes of criminality like
poverty and injustice. Many are driven to take the path of criminality because
of poverty. Ang taong nagigipit kahit sa patalim kakapit. People who are
victims of injustice and cannot get justice from our legal system, will take
the law into their own hands.
Hello, Sir.
ReplyDeleteI have been following your comments on newspaper articles. You always articulate your points in a lucid and persuasive manner, showing not only eloquence but knowledge of the law. I am a law student and I hope to think and write like you.
I agree with you that the administration should address the root cause of criminality and the issues plaguing our justice system. I believe Philippine society will be better off if the political will and resources utilized in this brutal war against drugs are channelled to rehabilitation and livelihood programs, as well as improvements in the justice system. Judges and prosecutors alike are overburdened with cases, a fact which makes the dispensation of justice painfully slow and expensive. We cannot blame people who have lost faith in our courts, especially the poor.
Sir, may I suggest that you share your thoughts through a platform with a wider audience? Rappler, perhaps? I think your ideas will benefit us netizens whose minds are constantly exposed to drivel.
Thank you very much, Sir!
Thank you very much for your generous comments. I have not been posting her. Instead, I post my comments in a Fecebook Page: Brillantes Law
ReplyDeleteThat should be "posting here" and "Facebook Page".
